Overview of Role :
As a Manufacturing Engineer Laser, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, quality, and performance of laser engraving equipment used in the decoration of promotional products. This position is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and optimizing laser processes across a variety of product types and materials. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent product quality, support process improvements, and enable new product introductions while adhering to safety, quality, and operational standards.
What you will do :
Laser Process Optimization
- Set up and operate laser engraving equipment for product decoration across multiple SKUs and materials.
- Develop, document, and optimize laser parameters to improve quality, speed, and yield.
- Support standardization of engraving processes across all machines and sites.
Technical Troubleshooting & Support
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to laser system performance, alignment, power output, software, and optics.Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions to minimize downtime.Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve process-related challenges and drive continuous improvement.Act as technical liaison for laser-related issues during new product launches and high-volume campaigns.New Technology Implementation
Lead or support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new laser engraving equipment.Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate new technologies for scalability and efficiency.Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
Ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules for laser equipment.Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides and maintenance documentation.Training & Documentation
Create and update work instructions, SOPs, and technical documentation related to laser processes.Deliver hands-on training to operators and technical staff to ensure safe and efficient equipment use.Compliance & Safety
Maintain compliance with laser safety protocols and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.Champion safe work practices and ergonomic improvements in laser operation areas.Data Management
Track and document machine settings, improvement trials, downtime incidents, and process changes.Analyze production data to identify performance gaps and recommend improvement actions.What we need from you :
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field – it is advantage.2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with direct responsibility for laser systems or engraving equipment.Strong understanding of laser technologies (CO₂, Fiber, UV) and materials interaction.Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electromechanical systems and reading technical schematics.Familiarity with CAD software, laser engraving software (., LaserPro, Epilog, Trotec), and machine programming interfaces.Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-team collaboration.About National Pen
