Scope

The  OPEX Specialist  drives a lean thinking mentality via project achievements and acts as an ambassador and change agent of the Operational Excellence philosophy to build a culture of Continuous Improvement. He / she challenges existing practices and believes that processes can and should be improved. He / she prioritize efforts with operational teams to focus on those projects that deliver the most value to operations. This function is highly accountable for delivering results.

The OPEX specialist supports in local, regional improvement projects include but not limited to throughput optimization, cost reduction that deliver results in providing a solid and standardized platform for growth and strive for excellence.

He / she works with others in a coordinated and professional way to create a team environment that achieves project success. This position reports to the OPEX Director EU.

Tasks and duties

  • Act as specialist in improvement projects include but not limited to throughput optimization, waste reduction, that deliver results in achieving or exceed targets for safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Commits to improve performance while taking action to minimize costs.
  • Acts proactively to avoid / minimize project risks and turn situations into opportunities.
  • Project Contribution including scheduling, progress tracking, resource coordination, closing and being a support for all project-related matters from the beginning of the project through hyper care.
  • Support, monitor, and control project activities to maximize efficiencies
  • Deliver results that achieve or surpass project targets based on key performance indicators, customer satisfaction measures, or employee satisfaction improvement objectives.
  • Support for interfacing with internal and external customers, stakeholders, vendors, and consultants during and until the project is finalized and turned over.
  • Execute on process improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma tools
  • Coordinate with internal departments to assist in accomplishing the project goals.
  • Actively strive to optimize overall resource planning and utilization.
  • Actively pursue strategic change opportunities
  • Actively participate in Department Quality Improvement Process.
  • Ability to work closely with operations at all levels using a ‘hands-on’ approach to create value and buy in.
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams in support of goals when needed.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships through individual contacts and group meetings
  • Create effective reports (status / progress) to all stakeholders with appropriate detail for desired understanding of the true project status and what needs to be achieved to accomplish project goals and objectives.
  • Meet project timelines to manage realization of project benefits.
  • Support team members in project work, helping them understand and utilize a portfolio of OPEX and change management tools.

Exemption Type Exempt (Salaried) Job Requirements

YOU are a CHANGE maker with

  • several years of experience within PSA BDP, or alternative logistics company.
  • a proven system knowledge (Meridian) and MS office suite.
  • demonstrated passion about Operational Excellence and the ability to solve problems.
  • the awareness of organizational, cultural group and / or interpersonal dynamics through attentive listening and ability to read the environment.
  • the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • strong communication skills.
  • the ability to motivate people and excellent influencing skills.
  • Analytical skills & being accurate.
  • English required, other languages are a pro.
  • Understanding of lean principles or min. open to learn.
  • Understanding and knowledge of industry standard EDI messages or willingness to learn these
