The Lidar Department of the Valeo R&D Center in Prague is developing the flagship among our sensors : the Valeo SCALA® lidar is the first and still the only mass-produced automotive laser sensor on the market. It can detect obstacles on the road up to a distance of meters and classify them in all weather conditions. It is used by carmakers for their most advanced models such as the Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8 or Honda Legend. Up to 30% of new premium vehicles are to reach level 3 of autonomous driving by , and to do so, they will have to be equipped with lidar technology. We develop hardware, software, optics, mechanical construction, execute system testing and industrialization of this product.

The in Valeo R&D (Prague)  is seeking a Function Owner / System Engineer (LiDAR Point Cloud Function) , the specialist should have overall knowledge of implemented functionality (if necessary, also impact of  HW, mechanics etc to functionality). The Function Owner is part of the development process from very beginning (concept definition) to end of project (validation, serial production). At any development phase the Function Owner works in various roles (e.g. advisor, analyst, investigator, developer, problem solver). Additionally, the Function owner has to be able to present his work products professionally to the customer.

YOUR CHALLENGES?

Liaise with system test engineer to ensure traceability from integration test cases to the unique System requirements

Produce & take ownership of System FMEA in the project

Systems Requirements Management

Review of Customer Requirements and subsequent translation into internal Systems Requirements Specification

Coordinate with the Hardware, Mechanical, Software and Test engineer to ensure full implementation and traceability of requirements

Manage requirements baseline. Perform engineering assessment of all subsequent internal and external Change Requests made to the project and translation of same into specific systems requirements updates.

Ensure all systems work products are baselined & managed through the Configuration Management & Change Control processes

Carry out activities in relation to functional safety (ISO) where applicable

Carry out all work to comply with Quality Management System

Participate in Project Teams and report on System

Development activities as appropriate

Assist in System development requirements for new projects

Assist the project with the following tasks : General software, hardware & product design reviews and problem resolution, System FMEA, DFMEA & FTA activities on assigned projects

Complete scheduled tasks within assigned projects to deliver System Development output to the project team as per agreed Timing Plan

Facilitate and contribute to Technical communication with relevant Customers

Participate in regular status reports to the project leader

Ensure that the full system requirement plan is communicated to all contributors

Perform problem management role interfacing with customer, allocation of system bugs to appropriate functions and leading a weekly review

Familiarize with working system using bench equipment to enable view on delivered product and to understand customer problems

Participate in Technology / Supplier / Tool Selection etc. for new developments

Minimum 2 years related working experience

Customer facing Hands-on experience

Optics and Mechatronics system engineering experience / studies (Preferred)

Basic knowledge in MATLAB  or  Python

Fluent in English (oral and written)

Business travel availability (0 -15%)
