About the role

As a Principal UX Designer, Design Systems , you’ll drivethe CSMD Design System, a part ofGen’s platform‑agnostic design system—powering modern, accessible, and visually cohesive customer experiences for the Norton, Avast, AVG, LifeLock, CCleaner, Avira, and many morefamilies of products. You’ll pair meticulous systems thinking with hands‑on design chops to raise the bar for quality and innovation across theorganization.You’ll foster a positive, collaborative team culture by showing openness, respect, and willingness to support others. About the Team
You’ll be joining the Customer Success Management Design (CSMD) Team , part of the Marketing, Brand, and Communications organization. We’re a fun, diverse, and collaborative group working at the intersection of marketing and product, partnering closely with both to craft seamless, user-focused experiences. Our work spans across email communications and in-product messaging, ensuring users receive the right message, in the right place, at the right time. We’re an impact-driven team that thrives on aligning strategic goals with thoughtful, data-informed design solutions that deliver real value to both users and the business.
Objectives
Evolve & scale the CSMD Design Systems – Drive the advancement of in-product messaging and Email design systems, while contributing to Gen’s broader design language. Partner closely with Product, Brand, and Engineering to deliver modern, cohesive experiences aligned with Gen's brand identities and their business goals
Build token architecture – Partner with Product, Brand and Engineering to define, implement, and maintain a robust, multi‑brand token strategy.
Lead craft & critiques – Facilitate design reviews that elevate design quality; jump in hands‑on to articulate concepts when needed.
Audit & advance – continuously conduct end‑to‑end UI and visual audits, propose solutions for gaps, and push the system forward while respecting platform guidelines (macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, and Email Clients).
Empower contributors – Create engagement models, documentation, and tooling that enable teams to give back to the system.
Stay ahead of the curve – Stay up to date with industry standards, emerging technologies, AI automation tools, and best practices to continuously enhance our systems.
Champion the system – Advocate for the value of a strong design system with partners and senior leaders across the business and contribute to broader Gen design system and brand initiatives.
Adopt and leverage AI tools – Champion early adoption of AI technologies to enhance the Design System, team workflows, improve processes, elevate overall efficiency, and continually exploring new tools to evolve how to be an effective enabler for the rest of the team and the company.
Core Competencies
8+ years of experience in UX, product, or related design fields; 4+ years in a dedicated design‑systems role.
Exceptional design craft with a strong portfolio in visual interface design, showcasingexpertise in scaling visual and motion design concepts across different applications and platforms
Extensiveproficiency in Figma – design systems, variables, componentlibraries, prototyping, and more;
Solid knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles for best practices with design systems, tokenization, and component architecture;
Detail-obsessed expert in best practices, creating clean, modern Ul systems that are easy to maintain
Comfortable presenting ideas and advocating for DS, able to translate design value for non‑design audiences through strong storytelling
Data‑informed decision‑maker who leverages insights and analytics to improve designs
Able to consider technical opportunities to drive good designs, whilst balancing the trade-offs of implementation cost and long-term maintenance
Experience working with content designers, motion designers, and illustrators as well as UX, Ul, growth and product designers, engineers, and product managers
Open-mindedness and a willingness to receive and incorporate feedback into work;
A positive attitude, with an emphasis on maintaining a fun, collaborative team environment.
Demonstrated curiosity and adaptability, with a willingness to embrace new tools, workflows, and evolving business priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience exploring and integrating AI tools into design processes, with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
Extra Competencies (nice to have)
Experience with multi‑brand systems in highly regulated or security‑focused industries.
Familiarity with automation of workflows and design‑system governance tooling.
Comfort coaching and mentoring stakeholders in systems thinking.
Knowledge of localization, internationalization, growth strategies, and accessibility standards at scale.
